As your supervisor, I will model safe ethical practice in line with the BACP Ethical Framework. Together we will ensure that the client is kept at the heart of our work together. I will support you in the development of your knowledge both practically and theoretically.
Our valuable work with clients necessitates that we practice self-care, as captured in the following quote:
"One day, a woodcutter was working feverishly to saw down a tree when a passer-by stopped to chat. Hearing the woodcutter had been sawing for five hours solid, the concerned observer suggested a break. That way she said, the saw could be sharpened and the job done more easily. Dismissing the suggestion, the woodcutter sighed and explained “I don’t have time to sharpen the saw. I’m too busy sawing”.

Counsellors, therapists, and mental health professionals.
I am trained in The Hawkins & Shohet Seven Eyed Process Model of supervision. This is a creative, dynamic approach which will enable us to explore whatever arises in your practice, no matter how challenging it may be.
My special interests include:
The BACP Ethical Framework defines supervision as:
"A specialised form of mentoring provided for practitioners responsible for undertaking challenging work with people. Supervision is provided to ensure standards, enhance quality, advance learning, stimulate creativity, and support the sustainability and resilience of the work being undertaken."
I have been receiving supervision from Paula for seven months. This is the first time I have felt able to be completely open and honest in supervision. In the past I have felt judged. I used to consider supervision to be an ordeal. However, I now consider it to be a gift and look forward to our monthly meetings. Paula’s extensive knowledge regarding mental health and wellbeing continues to be invaluable.
I’ve been seeing Paula for about 18 months and she has been nothing short of fantastic! She is the perfect combination between friendly and professional, making me feel constantly at ease. She is wonderful at detecting the support I need based on how mentally well I am doing and helps me through any problems I wish to speak about during that particular session. I couldn’t recommend her enough as her unfaltering support has turned me from a suicidal mess to somebody who can see the value in living every day.
Paula’s support has been absolutely invaluable. She has helped me through one of the darkest periods in my life and has been a constant comfort and support to me. Paula listens without judgement, lets me get everything out and always seems to know just what to say in response, with helpful support and suggestions along with useful links to additional support. Paula is kind, empathetic, reassuring and gives excellent advice and gentle guidance. I don’t know how I would have got through the last year without her. She really is one of the most talented, professional, experienced and genuinely kind and lovely counsellors I have ever met and I feel so enormously lucky to be under her care.
